Company announcement, 2-Feb-2015
HKSAR v Wayland Tsang Wai Lun & othersCooking with Gas
HK Court of Appeal, 28-Nov-2012
The court writes "in the face of prolonged inactivity following the announcement, a complaint was made to the Stock Exchange by a minority shareholder." Webb-site published the article "Cooking with Gas" on 4-Mar-2004 and filed a complaint with SEHK and SFC the next day. We had questioned the original announcement in a complaint to both regulators on 5-Jun-2002. For the avoidance of doubt, David Webb was never a shareholder in this stock. We don't know whether the complainant referred to was us.
China Public Procurement
In part 4 of our series on a network of companies, we cover China Public Procurement (1094) which has a long string of over-priced acquisitions from often-anonymous vendors, "earnest money" deposits for deals which don't happen, issues of unlisted warrants and shares for no obvious reason, and gaps in disclsoure. If you own this stock, get out while you can. (3-Jul-2009)
Cooking with Gas
We describe how Grand Field (0115) spent HK$63m on a 75% stake in a company which owned nothing other than a right to invest in a piped gas joint venture, which had lost its business license even before the acquisition was completed. One of the men behind this deal also features in our next story, on Kwong Hing (1131), so stay tuned! (4-Mar-2004)
